Brainstorm~

I think my sketchbook was too big ;-; it scanned some parts of it but cut off other parts.

These are just some ideas that came to mind.
I thought of a list of things, but didn't know how to draw it the way I wanted to... So I wrote it down and went on to something I could doodle (rough sketch) =D

Google Drafts - Negin

Hello~

I have decided to do the following drafts on various topics but my favorite has to be the Ghibli Anniversary concept (the second one) and the interactive Earth Day logo. Regardless, here are the concepts in order:

Sorry for the terrible scans. ): Click to enlarge them!

1- Ghibli Anniversary - I wanted to make a tribute to the famous Ghibli studious and try to incorporate as many of their famous titles into the logo. I haven't decided whether I want it to be interactive or more so focused on illustration for this one, I'm leaning towards the illustrative however.

2. Ghibli Anniversary (2) - This is the second concept where I wanted to incorporate Totoro's tree as the foundation of the logo. I want this to be interactive in a sense that you're able to navigate the swinging motion of the Totoro with the use of the mouse, I think that would be really cute.

3. Pixar Anniversary - (I'm really into animation, can't you tell? ): ) I want this to be yet another illustration of the Pixar studios starting from their first film ending with the most recent.

4. Earth Day - Energy Saving - I like this idea as well, I want it to be interactive in a sense that when the user turns off all the lightbulbs the last lightbulb will turn into a heart, hoping to spread the word of saving energy!

5. Katamari Day - Not sure if many of have you played this, but it's a really strange japanese game where the character (refer to the poorly drawn one in my picture) rolls up anything and everything. This was a huge hit in Japan and I thought it would be a really neat idea having the user roll up the letters of Google with the ball.

6. Single Awareness Day- Thought this was a pretty silly and cute concept. It's a simple illustration so far of a person looking out sadly and enviously at the google letters embracing one another.

7. Mario Theme Anniversary - This would be another simple interactive piece where the user navigates Mario through each letter to the Flag.

8. Minecraft Anniversary - Yet another game, not sure if many of you know this but it's basically a building/crafting game with adventure packed into it. This would be interactive in a sense that the user compiles each "block" into the letters and have the infamous "creeper" (from the game, yes that's what it's called) blow it up at the end- which is what tends to happen when playing minecraft. ):

Google Doodle Roughs

1. celebrating 28 years of Tetris (June 6, 2012)
  • one of my more favoured designs - I plan to animate the blocks in order to imitate the actual Tetris game and have them fall into the word Google. None of the rows are complete so there is no reason for any row to disintegrate :)
  • I wasn't sure whether I should use the colourful blocks or use the original old school Tetris colouring and patterns
2. celebrating 52 years of Etch-A-Sketch (July 12, 2012)
  • plan is to animate the turning of the knobs and the etch and sketching of the word Google
3. celebrating 16 years of Crash Bandicoot the video game (August 31, 2012)
  • easily one of my favourite video games as a kid!
  • The G is similar to the C in the Crash Bandicoot official logo while the crates, mask (Aku-Aku) and Wumpa Fruit are items from the game play - not sure if I want to keep Crash static or have him run across the screen somehow
4. Movember (haha I know the different moustaches are just a tad far fetched)

5. celebrating 16 years of Pokemon or just Pokemon 3: The Movie (the one with the Unown Pokemon, 11 years on April 6, 2012)
  • each of the Unown Pokemon stand for a letter in the alphabet and the ones I've used spell Google
6. International Sign Language Day

7. International Polar Bear Day! February 27th - this idea came from Coke changing their Coke cans to raise awareness with the World Wildlife Fund for polar bears as an endangered species
  • either static or having the polar bears walk across with Coke's theme music playing
8. celebrating the reprinting of Sailor Moon manga that recently happened
  • static, but I feel as though the other Sailor symbols are weak in relation to Sailor Moon's head, so possibly they could fade in one by one? but it was hard to make it look like Google, so although I absolutely love this theme, I'm not sure about the design
9. Happy Birthday Walt Disney! (December 5, 1901)
  • animated Tinkerbell sparkling everything around the logo or she could follow the cursor
10. Snakes and Ladders day?

DOODLES!

So I thought this project was completely awesome and had a ton of fun with it here are some of my ideas. I had fun with this

1. National Beer Day(Apr7)
2.National Coffee Day(Sept29)
3. Star Wars Day (May4)
4.Dimitri Mendeleev's BDay (guy who invented periodic table) (Jan20)
5.International/World Cat day (Aug8)
6. Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day (Jan30)
7. Matt Groening's BDay-Simpsons creator (Feb15)
8.World Toilet Day (Nov19)
9.Movember - mark the end (Nov30)
10. SOcial Media Day (Jun30)

r-r-r-r-r-roughs!

Hi guys! What's going on?! I would just like to say that I love that my sleeping schedule is officially off because of university. I am fully awake at 1 in the morning :P

Ohkay, so, lets begin :3

--> My first four sketches is for the Anniversary of Wonder Woman! The first sketch would have her signature blue eyes for the 'o's' in google, while her fists of fury with the silver bracelets will be used as an 'l' and the other as an underline for the 'oog' part.
--> The second sketch would be Wonder Woman herself riding the invisible jet with a semi-invisible 'google' outline.
--> The third sketch is that of an eagle head for the 'G' that has a wing span that will be red and blue feathers. As well, instead of circles inside of the 'o's' and the 'g', it will be a ruby star.
-->;The fourth sketch incorporates Wonder Woman's golden lasso. It's used to draw out 'Google' in a cursive font style.

After wonder woman, i decided to do Eminems birthday.
--> For sketch numero 5, i did a backwards G, since this represents Eminem's classic backwards 'E'. For the 'o's', i used an image of his mushroom tattoo on his shoulder. and for the l and the e, i simply used a mic. Tried to incorporate hip-hop and its culture along with aspects that relate to Eminem himself.
--> For the 6th sketch, i just used headphones for the 'o's', kept the mic for the 'l', but this time incorporated it with the 'g'. And for the 'e', i turned it into the Eminem backwards E.
--> For the seventh one, I wanted to put the 'Google' on a sign, kind of like the '8 mile rd.' sign that Eminem is known for.

I also thought of doing Movember, seeing as how we're in November currently, and I know of several participating in No Shave November.
--> I first thought of just changing the 'o's' to a single mustache.
--> The second thought I had was was to make an animation where hair strands come from the side, and turn and twist to make out the word 'Google'

Finally, I wanted to do something with Disney since I love them :3
--> I chose Beauty and the Beast since it's my fave movie. I used the dying rose to represent the G, ms.potts and Chip to represent the 'o's', Lumier for the 'l' and the Disney logo's 'e' for the google 'e'.

All of these doodles will hopefully have some form of animation incorporated into them, depending on how much coding, and such I can remember from highschool, haha.
Have a good week guys!

Houdini?!?!

Hey People!
I was looking through the google doodles and came across one for Harry Houdini....and quite frankly...it was boring...and I think that someone that was that theatrical deserves a slightly more dramatic google doodle... as a result, I may have developed a Harry Houdini obsession..  Not to worry...totally manageable! :P
So here are my first ideas!

Roughs.

Hey everyone, so here's just a bunch of ideas I came up with that included my favourite artists alongside other random stuff that came along the process. In chronological order from top to bottom, I've got:
1/ Socks & Sandals Day
2/ Social Networking Month
3/ Anniversary of the Segway
4/ Artist Audrey Kawasaki's Birthday
5/ Annual Day of the Dead
6/ Artist Alex Grey's Birthday
7/Bejweled anniversary?
8/ Brickbreaker anniversary/day
9/ Anniversary of Where's Waldo?

Rolex x Google Doodle

Rolex is iconic in their luxury swiss crafted watches, why not celebrate their 96 year anniversary. The key to my doodle will be the constant movement of the hands from the watch. I plan to create the letters using some type of form from the shape and mechanics of a watch with a monochromatic scheme.

Google Doodle Rough Sketches

For my Google Doodle I think I included events both made up and celebrated in real life. They are kind of small so just bear with me.
I'll be coming up with a lot more but for now these just stuck with me when I was doing my initial brainstorming.

The ideas/concepts are the following:

- Earth Day
- Easter
- Day of the Dead
- Spongebob anniversary?? ( Nickelodeon)
- Venezia Carnivale
- Happy Birthday Slash
- 80s celebration w/ Guns N Roses
- Valentines Day

Hendrix

So my main ideas were Lewis Caroll's birthday (Writer of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), Barbershop Quartet Day, Scrabble Day, National Suit Up Day, Maple Syrup Day, Astronomy Day, The Brother's Grimm Birthdays, Bubble Bath Day, Teddy Bear Day, Penguin Awareness Day, and Backwards Day. My favourites fall to Alice and the Grimm's, but that is simply because I like fairy tales and such. Most of my thoughts are on the roughs, hopefully you can see it, sorry if the resolution isn't the best...
So hopefully I can try and learn how to animate, I have absolutely no experience with coding so that may prove to be difficult.

Awesome,
Julie
Hello! So here are my sketches.

Take your anger out on glass day/Anniversary of 3D Media/Best Friend Day/Anniversary of Magnetism Day/National Play With Blocks Day/Zombie Walk/Singles Appreciation Day/Pancake Tuesday

Google Doodle Roughs

Hmmm.

So far my favourite ideas have been : An interactive Angry Birds doodle, a doodle that would involve musical frogs, and a doodle with Navi, from the video game series Legend of Zelda, that would follow your cursor around, (she follows you around in the game)

My ideas will largely count on my ability to remember how to code, but more concept's will probably
come around...

rough roughs.

I'd just like to first of all comment on what a weird word "rough" is.  Seriously.  Rough?  Where is the f sound coming from?  I had to spell check it a million times because it doesn't seem right.  Anyway...

These are my roughs.  I think I'm going to try and do either an animation or a short movie of sorts.  I didn't know how to thumbnail that, but I did sort of indicate what sort of things I wanted to move around.

In the corner, I have a list of some ideas.  Some of them, I have already dropped because they are... not the best.  Also, most of them are completely imaginary eg. Pet a Stray Cat Day.  I donno.  I think it would be a cute little video XP

Of the 10 ideas, my 2 favourite are "Save a Spider" day and "No Shoes" Day.  No Shoes day is an actual day, I think, whereas Save a Spider day is something I just randomly came up with.  It might be a day?  Somewhere?  I'll have to do a little research.

For the No Shoes day, I was thinking of doing a little movie, either stop motion or just plain digital video.  The idea is simple - just walking around without shoes, I'm thinking from a bird's eye view of the feet.  The logo Google will be chalked into the sidewalk and that's where the feet will walk to.  So that's one idea.

For the Save a Spider day, I was thinking of animating a spider spinning a web that will spell out Google - think Charlotte's Web.  If done right, I think it could be simple, but elegant.

Thoughts?

Thanks guys,
Leanna.

How to make your webpage

Hello,

Please look at link below and follow instructions to upload your doodle:

Your next blog assignment is to create a webpage. The page you create will be a normal blog entry with an image/explanation of your choosing.

If you are asking why, why does she make us suffer so? I say to you that this is a far easier process than you think, and it is a valuable one for many of you (especially the designers).

Everyone has access, and everything is free. Illustrators: use school computers to do this if you don't have Dreamweaver. Or come see me during office hours and we can do it together if necessary. Dreamweaver is an adobe program and should be pretty intuitive by now.

You can upload whatever you like, have fun, but remember to keep all images small (72dpi).
